Dave
Bagley
Founder,
Hitting/Fielding Instructor
Dave
was drafted
in the 7th
round (211 overall) of the 2002
Major League Baseball
draft by the Los
Angeles Dodgers. In
his first season, Dave
finished 5th in the
Pioneer league in
batting average (.337)
and On base percentage
(.442). He earned
All-Star honors and
was a part of the
Pioneer League
champion Great Falls
Dodgers. Dave
played for 3 seasons
in the minor leagues
before a shoulder
injury ended his
playing career.
Dave earned a
baseball scholarship
to the University
of
San Diego
and played there for 2
seasons. As a
sophomore (final
season), Dave hit
.406 in the regular
season with 12 home
runs earning 1st team
All Conference and All
Region honors. USD won
the conference that
year for the first
time in school history.
Dave
returned to USD after
he was finished
playing to complete
his Bachelor’s
Degree in Business
Administration which
he received December
2007.
Dave
graduated
from Rancho
Bernardo
High School
in 1999. As a senior
he earned 1st Team
All-County, CIF, and
State honors. He led
the team with 15 home
runs while hitting
.511 and was MVP of
the #1 ranked team in
the country. In his
senior year, RBHS won
the Division 1 CIF
title for the first
time in school
history.
Matt Wheatland
Pitching Instructor
Started playing
competitive baseball
at 11 years old for
the Encinitas Reds
under coach Dana
Blalock and played
around the country
in various World
Series' until he was
17. At 18 Matt
played with Team USA
in the Junior
National
Championships in
Kiaoshung, Taiwan
where they took home
the Gold medal.
Matt was as a four
year varsity
letterman, and a
two-time
All-American under
Sam Blalock at
Rancho Bernardo High
School winning
C.I.F. his junior
and senior year.
Signed a letter of
intent to UCLA, but
was drafted by the
Detroit Tigers in
the first round (8th
overall) in 2000 and
took his chances in
the minor leagues.
Matt played half a
season before
hurting his
shoulder. He went on
to have 3 shoulder
surgeries over the
next 3 years. Matt
tried to return as a
pitcher in San Diego
under the guidance
of Terry Kennedy.
When things didn't
work out he
continued another
season as a left
fielder, and first
baseman. Matt will
always have a love
for the game.
Mike
Oseguera
Pitching/Hitting/Fielding Instructor
Mike
Oseguera is a baseball
product of San Diego.
Born and raised in
Encinitas, he
began playing at age
seven and has played
or coached ever since.
Mike is fortunate to
have been coached by
some of San Diego's
finest coaches
including Dana Blalock
(Encinitas Reds) and
Justin Machado (LCCHS).
As
a Coach, Mike Oseguera
enters his fifth
season with the UC San
Diego baseball
program. This year he
will work with the
Tritons' hitters and
outfielders. Since
Coach Oseguera's
arrival to UCSD, the
Tritons have played in
four consecutive
conference tournaments
('04-07), winning the
conference in 2005 and
earning a regional
appearance in 2007.
Mike also has spent 3
years working with the
RSF Titans, a
competitive youth club
organization that
fields four different
teams (ages 8-11).
As
a player, Oseguera
graduated from the University
of
San Diego
in 2003, where he
played for four
seasons as both a
pitcher and position
player. On the
mound, he led the team
in appearances in 2002
and was a member of
two West Coast
Conference
championship teams
(2002, 2003). In high
school, he attended
local powerhouse La
Costa Canyon HS. In each
of Mike's three years
of Varsity baseball he
was voted Most Valuable
Pitcher by his
teammates. Mike's
younger brother Paul
pitches in the S.F.
Giants minor league
system.
Freddy Sandoval
Hitting/Fielding
Instructor
Freddy is a current
Major League 3rd
Baseman for the Los
Angeles Angels. He
made his Major League
debut on September 8,
2008. Freddy was
recently awarded the
2008 Los Angeles
Angels minor league
player of the year
award.
Freddy played in the
minor leagues for the
Los Angeles Angels
from 2004-2008. He was
a mid season All-Star
in 2005 and 2005-2006
was ranked by Baseball
America as the Best
Defensive Third
Baseman. In 2007
Freddy was a member of
the elite Futures Game
and was once again a
mid season as well as
post season All Star.
Freddy had his best
year in 2008 hitting
.335 with 45 doubles
(new record) and 88
RBIs before being
called up to the Major
Leagues.
Freddy attended the
University of San
Diego where he was a
1st team All
Conference player in
2002-2004 as well as
WCC Champions in 2002
and 2003. In 2004,
Freddy was drafted in
the 8th round (242
overall) by the Los
Angeles Angels.
Freddy Attended Marian
Catholic High School
in 1998 and 1999 he
was a First Team All
Harbor League player
and his team was CIF
champions both years.
In 2000 Freddy was a
1st Team All American
and led his team to a
3rd straight CIF
championship.
From 1996-2001 Freddy
was a member of the
Junior National team
(Mexico).
Chris
Mash
Strength
& Conditioning Instructor
Chris
started his
competitive baseball
career at Rancho
Bernardo
High School
where he was teammates
with Dave Bagley and
part of the #1 ranked
team in the country in
1999. He played
baseball for 2 years
at Saddleback CC in
Mission Viejo. He graduated from Texas
A&M Kingsville
in 2005 with a
Bachelor’s degree in
Kinesiology. Following
his senior year, Chris
took an internship as
the assistant strength
coach for the football
team. Chris currently
runs the Nutrimart
nutrition stores in La
Jolla and
Poway
and is a professional
personal trainer
specializing in sport
specific workouts.
